Touring-grade sound, sized for your room.

A California live production company with its own d&b audiotechnik system. We plan, tune and mix sound for concerts, theater, conferences, weddings and galas, from first soundcheck to load-out. You'll sound better than ever.

Based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Working across California.

Why Tahini Live Sound

Touring-grade gear usually comes with a big production company attached. We own a complete d&b audiotechnik system and bring it to your event with the attention of a small crew.

The promise is simple: musicians, actors and speakers sound better with us than they would without us. Clearer, fuller and easy to hear from every seat.

  • Owned and maintained in-house

Our core system is company-owned, not rented for the day. It is inspected before and after every show and kept on current firmware.

  • Planned before we load in

We prepare as much as possible before the event, which cuts setup time on the day itself.

  • Priced in the open

Our rates are published on this page, and every quote is built from them, line by line. No surprises on the invoice.

What we do

Live sound is the heart of it. Around it are the rentals, installs, training and studio work that keep a room sounding right between shows.

At your event

  • Live sound production

Full sound reinforcement for concerts, theater, orchestras and choirs, conferences, corporate events and private functions. We design the system for your room, set it up, mix front-of-house and monitors, and tear it down. Every voice and instrument comes through clearly, from the front row to the back wall.

On our d&b audiotechnik Q7 system, JBL 18-inch subwoofer and Behringer X32 console. Packages from $900 per event. See packages

  • Lighting

Color washes, moving heads, laser effects and theatrical cues, designed and run live. On its own or bundled with sound.

  • Video and photo

Event video and photography with full editing, easy to add when we are already running your sound.

For your venue and crew

  • Equipment rental

Dry hire of our d&b loudspeakers and amplifier, JBL sub and X32/S32 console for crews who bring their own engineer.

    See rental rates

  • Sound system installation

Design, installation, replacement and tuning of permanent systems for venues, houses of worship, schools and offices: ceiling speakers, amp and mixer racks, wiring and audio networking, wireless mics and in-ear monitors.

  • Console training

Hands-on sessions for new and working engineers on the Behringer X32 with S32 stage box and AES50 networking, plus DiGiCo Quantum 338 and Allen & Heath Avantis. Reaper and Waves integration for live processing included.

  • Free audio audit

For schools, churches and small theaters. We evaluate your current sound system on site and tell you plainly what works, what doesn't, and what it would take to fix it. No charge.

Before and after the show

  • Post-production mixing

Turn a raw board recording into a polished, release-ready mix and master. We work from the 32-track capture of our own rig or from multitracks recorded by someone else.

Fully remote, so location doesn't matter.

  • Arrangement and performance coaching

For bands and musicians: concert and set arrangement, focused work on weaker musical areas, and stage presence and body language.

Who we work with

  • Concerts and live music

Independent venues, promoters, bands and musicians.

  • Theater and performing arts

Community and regional theaters, schools and universities.

  • Orchestras and choirs

Community and school ensembles, and houses of worship.

  • Corporate events and conferences

Tech companies, associations and conference producers.

  • Weddings, galas and fundraisers

    Private celebrations and nonprofit events.

  • Venues and institutions

Churches, schools and event halls that need installs, training or regular rentals.

Our own d&b system

At the heart of every show is a complete system: d&b audiotechnik loudspeakers and amplifier, the brand specified on international touring riders, with a digital console and stage box built for fast, clean setups.

  1. Stage Mics, instruments and playback
  2. S32 stage box 32 inputs right at the stage
  3. One Cat5e cable AES50 digital, in place of a heavy analog snake
  4. X32 console Mix position wherever the room sounds best
  5. D12 amplifier d&b presets and processing
  6. Loudspeakers d&b Q7 pair, plus a self-powered JBL 18-inch sub
How sound travels through our system at a typical show.
  • d&b audiotechnik Q7 Matched pair

Point-source loudspeakers with the coverage control and tonal quality of a much larger rig.

  • d&b audiotechnik D12 Amplifier

Runs d&b's own loudspeaker presets and processing, so the system is factory-correct out of the case.

  • JBL VRX918SP 18-inch powered subwoofer

Self-powered low end that adds weight to full-band shows.

  • Behringer X32 + S32 Digital console and stage box

Full-size digital console with a 32-input stage box. Separate monitor mixes from the same desk, and a 32-track recording of your show on request.

Rental questions go through the same form.

Before you book

Answers to what clients usually ask first. For anything else, please ask us through the form below.

Where do you work?

We're based in the San Francisco Bay Area and work across California; most venues are within a day's drive. Post-production and pre-production planning happen remotely, so location doesn't matter for those. Out-of-state events are possible when the project supports the travel.

Can we rent equipment without an engineer?

Yes. Dry-hire rentals need a signed rental agreement, a security deposit and ID. The d&b Q7 loudspeakers always go out with their D12 amplifier, and rentals are available on dates the system isn't booked for a production.

Can you record the audio of our show?

Yes. Our X32/S32 rig captures up to 32 channels of multitrack audio, and we can mix and master it into a release-ready recording afterward. We also mix live recordings made by other engineers, as long as they're multitrack recordings.

Can you train our staff or volunteers?

Yes. We run hands-on Behringer X32 sessions for first-time operators through working engineers, and DiGiCo and Allen & Heath Avantis sessions too.

Useful details for a quote

  • What's on the program: a band, speakers, a ceremony, a choir
  • Start and finish times
  • Load-in access and power at the venue, if you know them
